Day 11 - Indian Head area

We had a bit of a leisurely start today 6am We woke up to find it was still raining and although South Carolina had had the worst flooding in 1,000 years Maryland seemed to have got off quite lightly.

We decided to spend the day not too far from our hotel, about 40 miles south of Washington.  We'd pencilled in one day to find some ‘solve at home’ Wherigos if there was time.  Some were on a walk and some were drive-bys which given the drizzly weather was a bit of a blessing and we just ended up with very wet feet from the grass verges.  I did most of the driving while Mark jumped in and out of the car.  The disconcerting thing was that a lot of them meant we had to park on the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway, didn’t feel too safe as the traffic was quite busy and after a pick-up truck swerved to miss us we decided to abandon the driving ones and concentrated on the ones we could do on foot.

After effect of all that rain

Some of the route took us along the Indian Head Trail, a disused rail-road made into a 13 mile paved walking/cycle route.  We would loved to have had our bikes with us on this holiday.

A really enjoyable day, time to move on tomorrow.
